What is Pobi Bach
Pobi Bach Bakery is a small independent Welsh business, creating freshly baked treats and suppling them to the beautiful people of South Wales. Although our name means “little Bakes”, this business has always been a massive dream of mine and it’s now become a reality!
We take pride in everything we do and spend many long hours lovingly hand making all of our bakes, so that we can offer our customers the freshest and best quality products possible. We offer a large variety of products from popular modern bakes to much loved traditional favourites and even special treats for occasions. Some of our most popular products include brownies, brookies and stuffed cookies, but not forgetting our rather unique light and fluffy jam and cream scones. We also spend numerous hours planning seasonal flavours, special treats for special occasions like Valentines and Mother’s Day, plus we offer different flavours of all of our most popular products every week at different markets, so there’s always something new to look forward to. Who are we
I’m Lyse, a full time day dreamer, foodie and boss gal! You're looking at my little dream that became a reality, Pobi Bach Bakery. I was born and bred in a little Welsh village called Gilfach Goch and that’s where I’ve been lucky enough to set up camp and build my business from.
Running a business of my own is something that I have dreamt of from a young age, but I never thought I’d have an opportunity to do it. My background is as a pastry chef and I spent a number of years working in some top kitchens in Wales, as well as work experience in Barcelona and London. I worked hard to gain as much experience as I could and even found myself in a few competition kitchens whilst being a part of the Welsh culinary team. Through my time as a chef, I found a love for food, but mostly eating it. I must admit my skills only extend as far as the pastry kitchen, I’m far from a chef in any other sense of the word and I wouldn’t trust myself with much more than an omelette or some egg on toast. I can’t take full credit for being a lone wolf in this business though; I have the most incredible support network and family who have also put endless hours of hard work into helping me set up and run this lush little business.

Our story
Hi all, I’m Lyse and your looking at my little dream that became a reality, Pobi Bach Bakery.
I have always baked in both my grandmothers' kitchens from the time I was able to stand on a chair and help pour ingredients into bowl. But from about the age of 15 I started hobby baking for friends and family and that’s when I began daydreaming about one day opening my own little business. Whilst I was still in school I I imagined myself in a cute little cake shop doing what I loved every single day, but for a long time that was just an unrealistic dream that I didn’t think would actually become real.

Fast forward several years, after training as a pastry chef and being lucky enough to have been given some amazing opportunities and work in some fantastic places, I made the decision that the chef life wasn’t what I wanted to do anymore, and it was time to start something that I truly loved and could completely throw myself into and that’s when I came up with Pobi Bach. I was so scared that I’d be starting something that was just too big for me, but I also knew that I had heaps and bonds of support from my unbelievably brilliant selfless family and with their words of encouragement I decided to take the leap.
So, in January 2021 Pobi Bach Bakery was born and my humbling journey of owning a small business and being a part of an incredible community began. Since opening, Pobi Bach has seen the wrath of a global pandemic and a cost-of-living crisis, but also the most incredible support from our local community, endless hours in the bakery, so many friendly faces, thousands of bakes, unexpected growth, continuous opportunities, the best customers and an unmatched kindness from the people we’ve met along the way. So now I spend my days doing what I love, selling bakes to the lovely people of South Wales, living my dream and not taking any of granted.

Where can you find us
We regularly attend local markets and events on the weekends so you can find us in a different place each week, including Tonypandy street market, every Friday.
You’ll often find us attending Urban markets and events, as we alternate various locations over the course of a month. We currently don’t offer bake sales or walk ins at the bakery as we don’t have time in our busy schedule to keep the bakery stocked, but you can pre order our products in advance, including occasional bakes, like, cheesecakes and treat stacks, which can all be collected from the bakery.
